The history of this Nanchang CJ-6 with the c/n 3151202 is pretty much unknown to me.
After service with the PLAAF (I believe as nose number ‘52‘) and no doubt a period of storage in China it was shipped to Fremantle, West Australia in November 1995 – I believe in the care of Steve Bastian and Ron Maclou of Paramac Enterprises where it was stored dismantled at Middington, Perth.
In 1998 it was with B Schofield – still in storage in Perth until being acquired by Peter Reid of Auckland and later of Geraldine.
It popped up on the NZ civil Aircraft register as ZK-CAJ2 on the 7th of November 2018 with the Nanchang 52 Syndicate of Orari Bridge, near Timaru.
As you can see it carries the last five numbers of its c/n 51202 on its fin/rudder and carries the nose number ‘02‘.
The two photos above were taken at the Richard Pearce Airport at Timaru a week ago on on 12-09-2020.
And below by Hairy Mole Rat at Pukaki Airport (Twizel to me) on 23-08-2020.
